Destination Chardonnay 2024

Destination Chardonnay — The Pinnacle of Linden Estate

Fruit from our hillside, river flat, and terrace estate vineyards is combined to balance power and opulence. Ripe stone fruit, citrus, and vanilla lead into a rich, creamy palate, with delicate toasted notes from fermentation in new and seasoned oak.

All fruit for our Destination Chardonnay is hand-picked. It then undergoes a long, gentle pressing, with the juice run directly to barrel. The free-run juice is kept separate from the pressings. Fermentation occurs naturally with indigenous yeast in 500L puncheons. Malolactic fermentation is also wild, taking place slowly over the winter months. After 12 months in 30% new French oak, the wine is blended and returned to older barrels for a total of 18 months’ ageing.

94 Points from Cameron Douglas

A bouquet and wine of richness and power. There’s no mistaking the rush of scents drawn from the French Oak barrels used with smoke, sweetness and spices, then nut and roasted stone fruits and vanilla. Full-bodied and creamy in texture with contrasting mouthfeel from the acidity and new barrel impacts. Flavours of stone fruits and roasted pomaceous fruits, some grapefruit and toasty spices. Well made, rich and delicious with best drinking from day of purchase through 2032.
